Biography

St George forward was on the interchange bench in the 1992 grand final loss to Brisbane before beginning a long career in England. In 1997 Elliot coached Bradford to win the Super League premiership before the club was beaten in consecutive finals (1999-00). The Bulls were beaten by St Helens, 11-10, in 1999 and while Bradford won the Challenge Cup the following year (defeating Leeds 24-18) the club was thrashed by Wigan in the 2000 premiership final. In October 2000 Elliot signed on as Canberra co-coach with Mal Meninga and was appointed Meninga’s successor as first grade coach for 2002. Under Elliot’s autocratic, non-nonsense leadership the Raiders qualified for the play-offs in four out of five seasons (2002-04 and 2006). Early in 2006 he was signed by the Penrith club as coach for 2007 but continued to work wonders with a ‘no-name’ Raiders squad.
