Biography
Classy five-eighth spent two seasons of mainly lower grade football with Wests before shifting to Newtown. Holmes represented NSW in 1929 and was chosen to tour with the Kangaroos that year. He scored 5 tries in 12 matches but did play in a Test match during his career (he married a local lass whom he met on tour). Holmes again played for NSW in 1930 but tragically, died in September 1931 from appendicitis, aged 26.
